New Water/Sewer Billing Software

The Town of Batavia will be changing water/sewer billing software providers August 1st, 2026. The Town has contracted with Tyler Technologies, Inc. for a more efficient and user-friendly billing program.

What are some changes the customers can expect:

Account numbers will be changing. The new program will require water and sewer account numbers to be changed. The new account numbers are not available at this time as we continue to build the software data. When making a payment, please ensure that you include the remit stub at the bottom of the invoice. If you use a bill-pay system, or online banking, to pay your invoice, please ensure you update the account number as shown on your August 1st, 2026 invoice. Failure to update those payment methods with the new account number may result in a return of the check, or improper processing.

A Customer Portal will be available. Customers will have the ability to sign up and monitor real-time water usage, and ensure leaks are not occurring. The portal will have the ability to set up alerts, and pay your bill quickly and easily. Once you have signed up for the portal, it saves your information and your customized settings. Each invoice will have a customized QR code specific to your property and water bill for direct access. We highly recommend each customer sign up for the portal. Please note*: Not all water meters are capable of providing real-time water usage information. Some areas we service may have poor radio coverage through the automated metering system due to topography and/or obstructions.

Automatic ACH payments and other payment methods. Customers will now have the ability to set up automatic ACH payments. Your water/sewer bill will be paid automatically each quarter. Should you want to make a partial payment online, you will now be able to do so. If you prefer to mail a check or pay with a credit/debit card or E-check online, those options are available as well.

Please note*: If you choose to mail a check, please include the detachable remittance stub at the bottom of the water bill. With account numbers changing, failure to include your remittance stub may result in your check being returned, or improper processing. The Town cannot absorb any additional charges from the provider when paying with a credit card, debit card, or e-check. There will be a fee for bounced or returned checks and online payments.

Go Paperless. Customers can choose how they would like to receive their water bill, including going paperless. If you prefer to receive your bill by e-mail, you will have the ability to do so. If you would still like one mailed, you may do so as well. Landlords can choose if they would like to receive a bill in addition to the tenant receiving one.

More information about the new software will be provided at a later date. The Town will continue to include flyers with updates and more information in the quarterly water bills.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for the new billing system?
  • If you pay your water bill with an online payment system through your bank, or a bill-pay system, you will need to update that payment method with the new account number. Payments from the bank, or bill-pay system, do not include remittance stubs from the invoice. If the account number is incorrect on the check, it may be returned or improperly processed.
  • Other than above, the new system is more efficient and user friendly. All other services provided by the Town will remain as is and we will continue to provide customers exceptional service and support!
